Bill's Canterbury Restaurant
If you ever find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Canterbury and craving a spot that blends cozy vibes with a diverse, modern British menu, Bill's Canterbury Restaurant on 5 Rose Lane is one of those rare gems that truly gets everything right. Whether you're popping in for a lazy breakfast, a solo lunch, or an evening meal with a glass of wine in hand, Bill’s offers a little something for everyone.
First off, the setting hits that sweet spot between casual and stylish. With both indoor and outdoor seating, you’ve got options whether the English weather is playing nice or not. The interior has a quirky, upbeat charm-think eclectic decor, friendly lighting, and that buzz of energy that makes you want to linger longer than you planned.
Now, let’s talk food. Breakfast at Bill’s is a popular ritual around here, and it’s easy to see why. Their Traditional Breakfast is a hearty, comforting start to the day, while the Eggs Avocado Florentine brings a bit of green, creamy luxury to your plate. Those who prefer something sweet in the morning often go straight for the Fruit Pancakes topped with maple syrup, a hit with both adults and kids. If you're more into sipping than chewing, their golden latte, pot of tea, or rich hot chocolate will more than do the trick.
Lunch and dinner options are where Bill’s gets playful with its offerings. The Bill’s Classic Burger is a staple-juicy, satisfying, and generously topped. But if you're craving something with a punch of flavor, the Chicken Shawarma is a great pick, balancing spices, tenderness, and freshness perfectly. Their Fish Finger Sandwich is a nostalgic throwback done the grown-up way-crispy, flaky fish with tangy sauce nestled between soft bread.
And don’t skip the small plates. The Chillie Calamari offers a nice kick and is perfect for sharing. Hummus arrives smooth and flavorful, an easy favorite if you’re looking for something light to pair with a cocktail or glass of wine.
For dessert lovers, Bill’s leans indulgent in the best way. The Chocolate Tart with Coconut Ice Cream is rich without being too heavy, while the Lava Cake oozes that perfect chocolatey center. These aren’t just afterthoughts-they’re crafted with just as much care as the mains. And yes, they’ve got a great dessert menu and a wine list to match, in case you want to elevate your evening.
What’s also worth mentioning is the restaurant's commitment to accessibility. There's a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, and toilet, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and accommodated. It’s also ideal for a variety of dining occasions-breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even a quick solo bite. Their offerings cater to a range of diets too, from vegan to vegetarian to those who prefer healthy options.
Drinks? Bill’s keeps it versatile. From fresh juices to cocktails, spirits, and craft beer, you’ll find something that suits the moment. The coffee game is strong too-smooth, bold, and freshly brewed, it’s no surprise they’re known for great coffee and tea selections.
Whether you’re just passing through Canterbury or you’re a local looking for your next go-to, Bill’s delivers with charm, creativity, and consistency.

Went here for lunch one Sunday. The server was wonderful, I believe her name was Rasa/Rosa. The shared starter was really nice and set us up for a good meal. Unfortunately, even though the burger was presented well, it was average at best, not very much taste. In theory it sounded great, bacon, fried egg and lots of avocado. It didn't live up to the expectations. The fries were good and the meal wasn't overly expensive in total. I would go back but I would be ordering a different main other than the brunch burger.
Delicious food, lots to choose from. Calm atmosphere with great service. Being able to pay on phone without having to flag down for the bill is a bonus!
The food was absolutely delicious and it was truly a special experience. A huge thank you to everyone in the kitchen. You are all hard work made a nice dish. The staff were incredibly friendly, and polite (especially Antonio). He gave me great recommendations and was so kind and helpful. You are all amazing. And very highly recommended
It was my first time in this restaurant and the experience was really enjoyable. I particularly appreciated the gluten free menu with many choices available. Amelia was our server and she took great care of us. Would definitely come back and recommend it!
I had such a wonderful experience dining at Bills! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. But what really made the evening unforgettable was Romy, our waiter. Romy was incredible— so attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great time. They made excellent recommendations, checked in at just the right moments, and had this effortless charm that made the whole experience feel special. Honestly, Romy is a gem and a big reason why I’ll definitely be coming back. If you're thinking about visiting, do it — and ask for Romy if you can. You won’t regret it!
